A seasonal ceremony became a jurisdictional dispute after the moon stopped at the edge of town, where March & Crown’s paperwork placed responsibility for it firmly on the municipality.

Boundary dispute, evidentially unresolved
A boundary claim supported by equally persuasive records is to remain open rather than be settled by clerical preference. The Registry may certify the question and number it for reference; residents asked to choose a district must present a certificate or a question of their own. Neither procedure moves the boundary.
Purple post, customary appearance only
A seasonally rented post with a purple underside is classified as a ceremonial marker, not proof of legal position. Municipalities may rent the appearance of an established custom; they must still arrange their own inspections, bread and arguments.

The First-Market Uncovering
On the first market day of autumn, neighbours expose a boundary post and share bread across the line. The ceremony belongs to the neighbours, not to the post’s rental contract: its purpose is to observe the boundary together, not to establish where it legally lies. A post may be purple beneath the soil, but the bread is served above it.
